The Nativity Play
The Nativity Play has traditionally been for many years performed shortly before Christmas in the castle's own chapel. The costumes and decorations go a long way to underlining the continuity of the production. Many pupils are involved in the production both on and off the stage. The roles are allocated and the rehearsals begin long before the various perfomance dates. Everybody shares the responsibility for the group success from the ox and the donkey to Mary and Joseph. Through this the social skills and behaviour of the pupils are stabilized, the talent for observation is sharpened and the ways of expressing oneself is widened. The active participation in cultural life is an unforgettable experience for many pupils.
Former pupils often still know their lines in the Nativity Play after 30 years and can tell many an anecdote from their work in the Nativity Play.
After successful performances almost all actors know the term stage fright and recognize that they have invested a lot of work, showed a good perfomance and had great success. The success can be seen in the enthusiasm of the audience and the feelings of happiness by the actors and helpers.
